Joseph Vogel is currently a graduate student and adjunct instructor at Brigham Young University. He is working on a Master of Arts degree in English Literature, with an emphasis on 19th and early 20th-century American and British Literature. He recently graduated from Utah Valley State College with a B.S. in English and a minor in Religious Studies. Vogel is the recipient of the 2005-2006 Utah Valley State College Scholar of the Year Award. In 2004, following his role in inviting filmmaker Michael Moore to UVSC, he was awarded the college's Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for his efforts in the advancement of free speech. He has appeared in numerous feature articles in various publications, including the Deseret Morning News, The Salt Lake Tribune, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. He also appeared in Steven Greenstreet's award-winning documentary, This Divided State.
During his time at UVSC, Vogel served as Senator of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; Vice President of Academics; and Opinions Editor for The College Times. He was honored as UVSC's "Talent of the Year" in 2003, and "Man of the Year Finalist" in 2004.
Vogel grew up in Northern California and Utah.
